As we gear up to face the reality that summer weather, vacation and the blissful relaxation that is synonymous with it is coming to a close, I find myself looking forward to the opportunities that are yet to come in these following months. While seeing the days become shorter and the weather forecast beginning to dip in temperature can be disheartening, the end of a season and start of a new one brings about a sense of productivity. The air will become crisper, and with it our minds clearer, for either school or work to kick in to full gear once again.
I find that getting down to work – whether it be applying for jobs, writing, completing tasks, making art, or even taking a moment to relax and read a book – is best accompanied by music. However, sometimes listening to music with lyrics can be distracting, as I often find myself drifting off task while singing along with the words. As well, while selecting songs one by one depending on your momentary preference can be fun sometimes, it’s not ideal when you want to sit down and really focus on your task. So today, I’ve put together a carefully created playlist that includes 45 songs that are purely instrumental. Instrumental music, be it fervent symphonies or calming piano, can evoke such a wide range of emotions without a single word being uttered, which is one of the things I absolutely love about this particular genre. It is also the kind of music that helps me get into my own world, the one where I am driven and focused.
You’ll find that within this playlist there are a variety of sub genres – instrumental covers of popular music, movie and television soundtracks, classical music, Celtic style songs, alternative, symphonic, simple piano pieces, and more. They all meld together waiting to be listened to while you achieve your next task, already selected into one big playlist that’s can either be listened to partially, once through, or on a loop. And what’s best about this playlist? You can also listen to it while you catch the last few weeks of fiery summer sunsets, or as you lounge outside soaking up the rays, and any other relaxed summer activity. Whether you want to be focused or free, this playlist is for you.
