Self-Help Books that I’ve Found Useful

…and When I Use Them

Sometimes, without knowing or expecting, there are days that you aren’t able to handle. Days that you do not want to face, and days that are too difficult to absorb. If you’re lucky, those days are rare, far and few in between. But sometimes, you go through a point when there are plenty in a row. However rare or frequent, they are not days to be ashamed by. But those are the days that you need a little pick-me-up.

Sometimes it’s difficult to ask your friends for those pick-me-ups, and on those days I turn to self-help books. More specifically audiobook versions of self-help books. I will lie on the couch, or in bed, with my headphones in just letting the lyrical voice wax on. Or I’ll set my up the audio, pull out my drawing pad and just let myself go. In fact, today was one of those days that I had no energy to do anything but sit on my couch. I felt frustrated and irritated with myself. I knew I had so much work that needed to get done, but I could not bring myself to do anything, even though I knew all that. So I decided not to, and find productivity ina  different way. Productivity in taking the break my mind was telling me I needed.

For the final post of Mental Health Awareness Month, I’m expanding on a previous post on Self-Help Book and if they work. Today, I am listing some of my favourite self-help books I have read and what I am feeling when I turn to them, each and every one of which can be found as an audiobook!

For when I’m feeling too much:

For when I need a confidence boost:

For when I feel like procrastinating:

For when I feel unmotivated:

For when I feel anxious:

For when I’m feeling hopeless about the state of the world:

For when my menstrual cycle is driving me insane (yes, there is a book for this!):
