5 Shows I Recently Watched (and Loved)

I’ll cut right to the chase: I’ve been watching a lot of TV shows lately, especially with ongoing lockdown orders in place. As a result, I’ve put together a list of my latest TV recommendations of shows, ranging from teen dramas to Marvel to sci-fi and more!

Captain Marvel

Film Review Even though S & I live in different countries, we still ended up watching the new MCU film Captain Marvel (2019) around the same time. This movie was hyped up for quite a while prior to its release, because this is the first Marvel movie that stars a female superhero! (Warning: Spoilers below) On one hand, it’s insane that it took 20 movies in The Infinity Saga before a female character had her own film. Of course, characters like Black Widow in the Avengers and Captain America movies, Pepper Potts in the Iron Man series, Gamora in Guardians…

“Daredevil” Season 3 First Impressions

Warning: some spoilers for Daredevil and The Defenders ahead! With the recent release of Daredevil Season 3, I was immediately interested to see what was to come of what used to be a favourite show of mine. Unfortunately, Season 2 was quite a disappointment. Aside from the introduction of Frank Castle, who went on to have his own show The Punisher, Season 2 left much to be desired. Avengers: Infinity War – Flop or Fab?

Major spoilers for Avengers: Infinity War ahead! You have been warned! As is evident by the other blog posts we have done on the Avengers series (which you can read here, and here), Avengers: Infinity War (2018) was highly anticipated by us. With a budget of $322 million, the expectation for a mind-blowing film was high. And while the effects and the large star-studded cast certainly added to the glamour of the film, it inspired some dissatisfaction. Aside from seeing the collaboration between all the characters in the different Marvel movies (with the sole exception of Ant-Man, curiously) and the…

Marvel Movie Binge

If you have not already, go see the new Avengers: Infinity Wars Trailer that came out Friday! In fact, I’ll make it easy for you so you can watch it right here. Go ahead, I’ll wait. Now tell me, are you excited? Because I sure as hell am! I know that there have been a couple of disappointments with the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Thor: The Dark World was an utter flop, Captain America: Civil War, while interesting, felt like nothing more than two men having out their egos on each other, and let’s not even get into how terrible The…

Visibility in Marvel’s Black Panther

“Can you believe that? A kid from Oakland running around believing in fairytales.” Erik Stevens, Black Panther, 2018 Marvel’s latest movie adapts the comic book character, which first emerged in 1966 and was first introduced in Captain America: Civil War (2016), to present the feature film, Black Panther. The film is majorly set in the fictional African nation of Wakanda, the home of super-metal vibranium which has allowed extensive technological advancements and prosperity to be achieved in the country. However, Wakanda is hidden “in plain sight” from the rest of the world, believed to be a poor third world country,…
