Avengers: Infinity War – Flop or Fab?

Major spoilers for Avengers: Infinity War ahead! You have been warned! As is evident by the other blog posts we have done on the Avengers series (which you can read here, and here), Avengers: Infinity War (2018) was highly anticipated by us. With a budget of $322 million, the expectation for a mind-blowing film was high. And while the effects and the large star-studded cast certainly added to the glamour of the film, it inspired some dissatisfaction. Aside from seeing the collaboration between all the characters in the different Marvel movies (with the sole exception of Ant-Man, curiously) and the…

The Rain – Netflix’s New Binge Worthy Show

Given the political turmoil and violence the world has witnessed in the past few years, it really is no surprise that there has been an increased interest in apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic shows. And Netflix’s new Original Danish show The Rain, which came out May 4th, fills that interest to a T. The eight episode show is premised on an unknown ecological disaster that results in rain being a fatal toxin to anyone caught in it. Not only that, but you can get infected by getting your feet wet in a puddle and infect others before dying. This sets up the…

“Jane the Virgin” and Satire

Jane the Virgin is easily one of the most intriguing, multifaceted shows out there right now. Advertised as a “satirical romantic comedy-drama telenovela” (say that five times fast), Jane the Virgin heaps a lot onto its plate, and manages to succeed every moment of the way. Without spoiling too many of the key plot points, the show’s premise is about satirizing the dramatic, unrealistic elements of soap operas (in this case, specifically Spanish telenovelas) and transferring it to the real world. In Jane the Virgin, Jane Villanueva (played by the inimitable Gina Rodriguez), her mother, and her grandmother avidly watch…

Why the Gilmore Girls Revival was Disappointing

For all those Gilmore Girls fans out there, it’s needless to say that upon news of the revival entitled A Year in the Life (2016), we were all excited. Excited to see what the lives of Lorelai, Rory, and all the other characters of in their world had brought them nearly ten years later. Perhaps it’s due to the fact that revivals or reunions of shows can never quite embody the greatness of an original, but I’m sad to say that I was quite disappointed by the revival. Sure, it satisfied a part of me to see these beloved characters…

Spring TV List

In the age of Netflix and countless other streaming services, sometimes I find it hard to organize my thoughts in terms of what movies or shows I should be watching (I know, first world problems, right?). Oftentimes, out of pure laziness, I end up flipping through episodes of a show I’ve already watched hundreds of times due to the sheer convenience of it, even though there are tons of shows I haven’t seen that I plan to watch. In order to rectify this and add a little organization to the overwhelming nature of the influx of shows, I’ve created a…

Why You Should Watch “Bojack Horseman”

Anyone who knows me well knows that I am obsessed with Netflix’s adult animated TV series Bojack Horseman. Today’s post centers on why this show has become a surprising all-time-favourite of mine, and why I think everyone should give it a chance. Oftentimes, people assume that animated shows won’t be “adult” enough, as there is a subconscious association of cartoons with kids or “child-like” material. Of course, classic shows like The Simpsons, Family Guy, South Park, and Futurama are a few examples of just how adult cartoons can be. Recent examples are Archer, Bob’s Burgers, and Big Mouth, and that’s…
